Order of the Arrow Troop Representative
BSA Troop 125
When you accept the position of OA Troop Representative you agree to provide service and leadership in our troop. This responsibility should be fun and rewarding. This position description tells some of the things you are expected to do while serving as a junior leader.
The OA Troop representative is the youth link for communications and programs between Troop 125 and the Yanush Chapter of the Mikanakawa Lodge 101, North Trail District, Circle 10. He carries out his duties in a way that strengthens the mission of the lodge and purpose of the Order of the Arrow. By setting a good example, he enhances the status of scouts in OA as a service arm of the Boy Scouts.
Requirements for Eligibility:
¨ Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with the approval of the Scoutmaster.
¨ 15 years old at the time of appointment with exception at discretion of Scoutmaster.
¨ Star rank or above.
¨ At least one year experience with Troop 125.
¨ Completed Oak Leaf Training.
¨ Signs a commitment to fulfill duties and requirements of office.
¨ Fulfill the duties of the Order of the Arrow Troop Representative.
¨ Attends Troop meetings in full Class A uniform.
¨ Attend 75% of meetings.
¨ Attend 4 of 6 of campouts if in the Fall term.
¨ Attend 2 of 4 campouts and Summer Camp if in the Spring term.
¨ Develop three leadership goals for your term.
¨ Reports to the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.
¨ Attends Yanush Chapter meetings.
¨ Serves as a communication link between the chapter or lodge and the troop.
¨ Encourages all registered arrowmen in the troop to keep their OA dues current.
¨ Encourages camping activities in the troop.
¨ Encourages and participates in service activities in the troop.
¨ Encourages leadership skills training in the troop.
¨ Promote the Order of the Arrow in the troop and motivate scouts to remain active.
¨ Coordinate and participate in an OA election for the troop.
¨ Coordinate and participate in an OA tapout for the troop.
¨ Attend North Trail District Camporee and serve on Camporee staff.
¨ Encourage and coordinate other arrowmen to serve on staff at Camporee.
¨ Consider serving as an Elangomat or on a Ceremony Team as least once.
¨ Set a good example.
¨ Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
¨ Live by the Scout Oath and Law.
¨ Show and help others develop Scout spirit.
Responsibilities and Expectations of the Scoutmaster:
¨ Have meetings with you to help you prepare for and to provide assistance with your new position.
¨ Be available for discussions or phone calls.
¨ Back up your decisions within reason.
¨ Listen to and consider your ideas.
¨ Be fair.
¨ Listen to all sides of any issue.
¨ Set a good example in wearing the uniform, language, attitude, etc.
I have read and understand the requirements of Order of the Arrow Troop Representative and commit to Troop 125 that I will fulfill the duties of this office to the best of my ability. I will fulfill the duties of my office and if absent, will locate a Scoutmaster approved substitute to assume my responsibilities. I understand that failure to abide by these guidelines may result in my loss of office.

As OA Troop representative, there are many resources available to help you. These include people such as your Scoutmaster, assistant Scoutmasters, troop committee members, your fellow arrowmen in the troop, and the adults and youth members of the Yanush Chapter/Mikanakawa Lodge.
