Assistant Patrol Leader
BSA Troop 125
Requirements for Eligibility:
¨ Appointed by the Patrol Leader with approval of Scoutmaster.
¨ 12 years old and 2nd Class Rank or above.
¨ Six months experience with Troop 125.
¨ Attends all meetings in full Class A uniform.
¨ Report to the Patrol Leader.
¨ Help the patrol leader plan and lead patrol meetings and activities.
¨ Help keep patrol members informed.
¨ Help the patrol leader prepare your patrol to take part in all troop activities.
¨ In the patrol leader’s absence, act as the patrol leader including representing the patrol at the Troop Leadership Council.
¨ Show and help others develop patrol spirit.
¨ Set a good example; wears the Scout uniform correctly.
¨ Live by the Scout Oath and Law.
¨ Show and help others develop Scout spirit.
¨ Be available for discussions or phone calls.
¨ Back up your decisions within reason.
¨ Listen to and consider your ideas.
¨ Be fair.
¨ Listen to all sides of any issue.
¨ Set a good example for you with the uniform, language, attitude, etc.
As assistant patrol leader there are many resources available to help you. These include people such as your Scoutmaster, assistant scoutmasters, troop committee members. They also include your SPL, the ASPLs, your patrol leader, and other fellow junior leaders. Your parents, pastor, teachers can also serve as valuable resources. Some literature resources that can help you are the Boy Scout Handbook and the Junior Leader Handbook.
